Our volunteers are our greatest asset and resource. You don't need to be an experienced search and rescue person to volunteer with us. We are so fortunate to have hundreds of volunteers from all walks of life and have found that everyone who wants to volunteer brings some skill to the table, though not everyone is suited for every task. While we are fortunate to have a number of industry experienced and technical people such as pilots, doctors, and computer-savy volunteers, many folks serve as part of a ground party search team. We know from experience, that it takes a TEAM of volunteers to conduct a successful SAR mission.
Each month we will put a spotlight on a few. This month's recognized volunteers are:
Isaac Greenlaw of Bangor, Maine, is a long time volunteer working in the Imagery, HMMWV, Medical, and other sections, he is a licensed Medic, and Firefighter, and trained in imagery from aircraft for DEEMI.
Melissa Semenov works in NC with her dog team but has a Maine connection by her family. She has been on missions, trained and from afar helps DEEMI do our mission better. She is training on board our Huey in this image.

Groups often volunteer with us. We are fortunate for many years running now, to have the Bodwell Center from the University of Maine in Orono, help us in cleaning and resetting DEEMI's vehicles and gear. Many have gone on to volunteer with us as individuals. We appreciate their spirit of volunteerism.
